General habitats for this species are coral or rocky reefs. You can usually see them on hydroids, feeding, mating and laying eggs. Body colour can be very variable and range from white, pink, purple to orange. The sensory organs and the tips of the cerata are usually pale orange colour. It has the ability to reposition the stinging cells from its food source (hydroids) to the tips of its tentacles for protection.
