Hides in the arms and underneath of crinoids (feather stars), where it seeks protection. It adopts the colour pattern of its host by repositioning pigment cells in its carapace. Similar species with the same habitat include: Periclimenes cornutus., P. commensalis, P. ceratophthalmus.The size is up to 1.8cm, it stays in the crinoids and it camouflages itself like the crinoids. Very little is known about the relationship of the shrimp and the crinoids.
