This species has a dark brown or yellowish brown body with a bluish chin and belly. It has a narrow bluish to yellow or orange bar from the lower rear corner of their eye to the front of their pectoral fin. Also, it has a white edged yellow-brown tail. Lives solitary in reef areas, in 2-30m depth.
