PORCELAIN CRAB

Neopetrolisthes maculatus

This species lives symbiotically among the stinging tentacles or under the basal disk of carpet anemones. It filter feeds on plankton, using a special sieve-like appendage. They are often found in pairs. Their central body has a round shape, with a smooth surface. They have large claws. They are reamy white with numerous small red spots. They live mostly in anemones, and the females are larger than the males.
