Little is known of this species. Like other members of squid, this species has kidney shaped fins, a scatter of large white pigment cells and orange chromatophores. It remains buried during the day and shows up at night to hunt primarily crustacean prey. Occur in shallow waters. Closely related to the striped pyjama squid (Sepioloidea lineolata).
