Found in a wide range of habitats: on sandy bottoms, rubble, rocky areas and coral reefs and also among algal beds or sitting on mooring lines and moorings. The colour also varies greatly and can be anything from white to black. There can sometimes be patches of overgrow on their bodies. Juveniles have a beautiful pattern of orange spots on their black body and blue tips on all the fins and tail. Usually stays in the same area for a few days or up to a few weeks.
