Found in a wide range of habitats: on sandy bottom, rubble, rocky and coral reefs and also among algal beds or sitting on mooring lines and moorings. The colour also varies greatly and can be anything from white to black. There can sometimes be patches of overgrow on their bodies. Juveniles have a beautiful pattern of black body with orange spots and blue tips of all the fins and tail. Usually stays in the same area for a few days or up to a few weeks.
